Monday- What a Terrible Sports Day For VFC

In maybe not the brightest move in VFC's fantasy baseball season, I started Cincinnatti's Johnny Ceuto last night against the Phillies. I figured that Ceuto was having a decent season and the Phils, while still in first place, were reeling before they played the pushover Mets over the weekend.

It didn't turn out so well for me as the Phillies scored ten runs in the first, nine off Ceuto.

As a Mets fan, meaning I love torture, I tried to make myself feel even worse.

Here's what I came up with:

- The nine runs that the Phillies scored against my fantasy baseball pitcher, Ceuto, were exactly three times more than the Mets scored TOTAL in their weekend series in Philadelphia.

- Philadelphia's 22 runs last night were exactly how many the Mets have scored TOTAL in their last EIGHT GAMES....and that includes a game where they had a 9-run outburst versus Pittsburgh! Take away the 9-run game and the Mets have not scored 22 runs since June 25th.

Talk about seriously needing a bat!

- Philadelphia's 22 runs last night were twice the number of runs scored by the Mets in Johan Santana's seven losses. Combined.

Needless to say, it's pretty sad being a Mets fan right now.

And here's a message to the front office:

STOP SENDING ME REQUESTS TO PURCHASE TICKETS!!!!!!

If anything, by reminding me that the Dodgers and Reds are coming to town, it's even more of a reason to stay away from the stadium since the team has zero chance of winning!

Maybe I'll try Citi Field next year after Minaya spends 25 million bucks on a couple of 38-year old injury risks.
