The Mets Drop Outta First

The Mets blew another great performance by Mike Pelfrey and the bats again went silent as the Mets fell to the Washington Nationals for the second night in a row.

The lackluster permance of this team reminds many of last September's swoon, and with the Phillies recent run, it's possible the Mets could repeat that swoon and find themselves watching playoff games on TV come October.

The Mets received bad news with the loss of Fernando Tatis for the rest of the year, but the real problem lies with the bats and the bullpen. When these guys hit, they hit and when they don't, they lose these 1-0 games. There's no middle ground.

Brandon Knight takes the mound in DC tonight looking to end the the slide. It may be a good night to take the kids to the ballgame to cheer on the Mets, but I'll probably end up having to explain to the kids that it's ok to boo the Mets when they stink. They didn't quite understand why the fans were booing the Mets at Shea last Sunday.

Manager Jerry Manuel held a team meeting the other day; these guys really need to get it together. Another lost lead in September will stigmatize the team for years, they gotta pull outta this. David Wright says they have to did deep.

Maybe they need to drink more Celsius.
